Throw back post: Updated Spray Paint Night Stand

It took me 3 days, but it's done! Remember that nightstand I scored for 4 bucks at a garage sale?!

Well It's gorgeous now!

Can you believe that's the same nightstand?!

First I took it outside and laid a bunch of newspapers down so I wouldn't accidentally spray paint the entire patio. I'm no pro with spray paint and I super sucked at it, but after this project I feel confident in my new found spray paint skills :)

I took off the hardware.

It was super gross and dirty and olddd!!

I sanded them down, and washed with soap and water.

and spray painted it with this.

Put the hardware aside to dry, and got to cleaning the nightstand. I then primered the night stand let tat dry overnight and got to spray painting the nightstand. I used Ocean Breeze. I used 1 whole can and had some spots that needed touch ups so I used a second can but barely any of it.

I brought it inside.

Used black acrylic paint to glaze it and make it look antique...even though it is super old lol!

See the difference it makes?!

Put the hardware back, all done!

I wish I had more time to make the glaze perfect but Miniboss is teething and super cranky. I feel some hardness to her gums but I don't see teeth yet so hopefully they come soon and she won't be so naughty!

A simple gift

I finally finished and framed my little Sister's Birthday gift. Late..yea but I've been busy and she doesn't mind I'm sure :) I saw a pinterest with embroidery on canvas and knew I could make one similar to it!

Wouldn't it be cute as a baby shower gift or even a wedding present?! I even made one for us to keep in our home.
I started out by printing the words in a font I liked and printed it out. I then traced it onto the drop cloth.. and outlined my letters first then went back in filled in the gaps in between the letters.
Then I gave them a quick iron to get rid of the circle marks from the hoops.
It was so easy to make, and didn't cost much either. I used left over drop cloth from other projects and used it as the background. The embroidery floss was .35 each at Michaels ( I used about 3 for each project). I already had an embroidery hoop and needle and the IKEA picture frames (they're 9.99 each at IKEA). My sister's pretty artistic herself so I know she'll enjoy hers after I send it to her :)

My Desktop

Yay my desktop finally came in today. I've been wanting one for a long time, and my old laptop was on its last leg so we saved up and now I have an awesome desktop..for blogging, photo editing, coupons and stuff...Why not get another laptop? Cuz I have a kid who thinks anything she can carry is hers, like my phone, the camera, my touchpad...so I knew I wanted something stationary plus I use the computer for printing coupons and I like to have everything in one place.

My hubby totally agreed to getting me one..so he could use it for homework so he got dual monitors. He always ends up taking my things. But at least I'll have all my photos in one place now along with my photo editing softwares. I'm totally gonna cam whore everything and enjoy playing with the Adobe CS5. I have 1 TB now..and this whole set up cost less than our laptop did! I don't care what anyone says, I love my desktop!

And other big news..with the new comp we decided it was time for us to have a home office! We're going to IKEA this weekend to pick up some desks. Right now the desktop is temporarily set up on the dinning table because I couldn't wait lol. I got so excited about our own office space that I sold our old desk on craigslist already. Opps...Oh well its only a few more days :)

Weaning progress report

Been tough around here the last few days. Miniboss is officially weaned from the mum!!! Say whaaaa?! Yessss its true. Her naping and sleep schedules are a little wonky but its been hard for all of us. She has been eating people food non stop. Like shes always hungry now. Her eating patterns have completely changed and I can barely keep up.

Shes still clingy but I've been trying to get her to spend more time with her Dad, they nap together after work while I go hide and get things done lol. My milk supply is slowly diminishing. I read online to use cabbage to stop engorment. Don't know it it works but today I finally am not in pain for once and I can tell it wont be long till im all dried out.

Im gonna miss our mommy n me time we shared. It was always nice to take a break and just relax with her while she had her arms n legs wrapped around me. Im gonna miss my baby not being a baby and officially a big kid. I complain about her a lot but it's only because shes too much like me. Shes opinionated, loud, rude, and bosssssayyyy.

Anyway I officially nursed her till she was 20 months old. I'll probably never get to experience that part of motherhood ever again (I do not want anymore kids) but I'm glad I did it. It was a great thing for the both of us, and now were going to move onto bigger and better adventures as she grows.

A throwback for my big bench reveal

(A throwback post for my favoritest project I ever built with my own two hands. The one I'm most proud about, my couch bench. Paperflowerdrive.blogspot is closed now and I'm slowly transfering my projects on paperflowerdrive to here. This post originally had almost 5,000 page hits alone! So please enjoy my big bench reveal..again heheh)

I've been sewing like a mad lady to finally get this bench done! & now it's done :) heheh I know I initially wanted a bench so my husband would have a place to take off his shoes without him having to go all through the living room trekking in god knows what...but now that it's all done.. I don't like him sitting on it messing up my beautiful work LOL! It started as a simple bench idea, and turned out to be full blown crazyy project that cost me a ton of monies and time, but it's awesome and I can say..I MADE THAT BENCH!! :)

Let's take a look back and remember one more time all the hard work I went through before I show you what she is today..Shall we?! We shall :)

Best thing about Target coupons?

Free shorts for me thanks to clearance and coupon.

They are sooo cutesy...The best part is that it's still hot outside so I can wear them! I can always find deals for baby clothes, Miniboss has tons of jeans from target thanks to coupons but I love the occasional freebies for me too :)
